Before we are releasing 1.0.1 you may want to check out the test release 1.0.0d. Beware, it is not very good tested (that's your task :-) and should not be used for production purposes. Where is > it documented? Please: DON'T YOU USE THE 1.1.x VERSION if you are not involved in development og GnuPG. At several places the documentation mentions that this version is not to be used for for production but for testing only. You will get into trouble if you use such a version!! To make this even more obvious, 1.1.1 will have it's default directory renamed. Do only use 1.0.x versions! The test versions named 1.0.0[a-z] are also okay to use but consider them as Beta. Here is what the NEWS file has to say about it: * New command --verify-files. New option --fast-list-mode. * $http_proxy is now used when --honor-http-proxy is set. * Fixed some minor bugs and the problem with conventional encrypted packets which did use the gpg v3 partial length headers. * Add Indonesian and Portugese translations. * Fixed a bug with symmetric-only encryption using the non-default 3DES. The option --emulate-3des-s2k-bug may be used to decrypt documents which have been encrypted this way; this should be done immediately as this workaround will be remove in 1.1 * Can now handle (but not display) PGP's photo IDs. I don't know the format of that packet but after stripping a few bytes from the start it looks like a JPEG (at least my test data). Handling of this package is required because otherwise it would mix up the self signatures and you can't import those keys. * Passing non-ascii user IDs on the commandline should now work in all cases. * New keys are now generated with an additional preference to Blowfish. * Removed the GNU Privacy Handbook from the distribution as it will go into a separate one. As usual GnuPG is available at ftp.gnupg.org and soon at the mirror sites (see below). Due to the U.S. export restructions it is not available from the usual GNU places; import to the U.S. however is legal. ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/pub/gcrypt/gnupg/gnupg-1.0.1.tar.gz (1330k) or a diff against 1.0.0 (which is somewhat large due to the new translations and the removed manual): ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/pub/gcrypt/gnupg/gnupg-1.0.0-1.0.1.diff.gz (485k) The tarballs are signed (.asc is the GnuPG signature, .sig is a PGP 2 signature) and MD5 checksums are: $ md5sum gnupg-*1.0.1.*.gz 6739be4219770b53d74b6a70a79a2c10 gnupg-1.0.0-1.0.1.diff.gz 14ce577afd03d56cba5d8ee59b9580ed gnupg-1.0.1.tar.gz Please verify the signature or the MD5 checksum. A test released for Win32 will be released soon. Please note, that bug reports from now on are most likely forwarded to a mailing list or a public bug tracking system. Enjoy, Werner p.s.
