gnupg 1.2 exits while encrypting to non existent recipients

I got a serious problem with gnupg 1.2

I have a shell-script wich call gnupg for encrypting and signing a text 
file to several recipients. The old gnupg simply skipped recipients 
whose public key are not in the local key ring and continued with the 
next recipient.

Unfortunatly the new gnupg 1.2 exits if it encounters a recipient which 
is not in the local key ring.

Is this normal? Is there a way to change this behaviour?
