how do I excrypt a file so that it can be opened with CA PGP

Gnupg has a fact that referers to PGP compatiblity, but does anyone
have any experinses they can share?

I used gpg -r <thekey>  --compress-algo 1 --cipher-algo cast5 -e <filename>
