Yes, that appears to fix the issue I was seeing. No idea if it breaks anything else. I attach the patch I used plus the resulting output. I had to hack the tests to avoid a clash with the static do_handshake() and the extern declaration in socket.h (now in scope because I had to include socket.h in common.h). I'm sure there's a cleaner way to do it.
