They are good enough. The behaviour is strange.
Something might not dynamically link to the right place
or is not compiled with the right settings.

Try first to test your gpgsm setting on the command line
to further debug this. If the command line works then you now
that the crypto setting are in order.

If you have a signed file, try gpgsm --verify.
If you have a certificate for yourself, try gpgsm --sign x >x.sig.
