Ben Laurie and I have been talking about adding OpenPGP functions to
OpenSSL. That will hopefully stop the requests for GnuPG to be something it
isn't.
Note that the GPL doesn't lend itself to being a kind license for
libraries anyway. OpenSSL is under an Apache-style license, which allows
much more flexibility in its use.
People interested in contributing should contact me in January.
