Hi all,

here's a question that reached me concerning Q 4.13 of the FAQ (using
GnuPG in an automated environment). As I have no experience with this -
is there someone who can help Joe and (if necessary) provide an update
for the FAQ?

Thanks,
Nils

Subject: procedure in GnuPG FAQ 4.13 doesn't appear to work; or I'm missing ;(
Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 23:47:15 -0700

* Note -- I have and use GPG quite a bit, this isn't a novice question.

I've followed the instructions in section 4.13 of the FAQ, but it doesn't
appear to work properly. The --export-secret-subkeys appears to remove the
secret part of the key (manpage documents this) which makes signing
impossible.

Am I overlooking a step here, or ...?

gpg --edit mykey

> addkey
enter passphrase DSA 1024 0
> save
mkdir testing cd testing cp ~/.gnupg/pubring.gpg . gpg --export-secret-subkeys --no-comment mykey > secring.gpg gpg --homedir . --edit mykey
> key 2 (new key
> passwd
enter passphrase enter nothing enter nothing yes I really want this
> key 2
# delete the unused subkey as you suggested
> key 1
> delkey
> save
