There are a lot of high-performance automated applications where being able to do all the OpenPGP operations (signature, encryption, and decryption) would be a very good thing. OpenPGP could be a replacement for SSL for web use, in fact. The current SSL model of CAs and certs and all that is terrible; I would rather just use OpenPGP keys. But we need a full OpenPGP library to do that.
