What I mean is that the current version runs fine on all Systems using
the Win32-API (what a name).  If we add the extra stuff for W2000 we
might run into problems with other Windows versions.  I have no idea
how long the extra gathering takes, so this was just a guess. 

If you can do tests using your patch on all Windows platforms
(including ME) and everything is fine, I will re-consider to add this
patch.
