ENTER ist just a keyword, the next line should give you a hint about
the user ID, i.e a text which can be displayed and the 3rd line is the
long keyID *you may want to display only the last 8 hexdigits.

This user ID hint is a kludge to make life easier but obviously there
is a problem.  It is derived from a special status message.

Sure.  Basic debugging:

export GPGME_DEBUG=1

See all the data passed to/from gpg:

GPGME_DEBUG=2

need a file to write the output (mostly useful under Windows)?

GPGME_DEBUG=2:/tmp/foo

Expect finer grained debug selection in the future ;-)
