Odd behaviour with GnuPG 1.0.5 and CVS Makefile

Hello All,

I've been trying out the GnuPG 1.0.5 and the CVS version in an attempt
to check whether the new HTTP code works with my rather eccentric proxy
server. When I was doing this I noticed some odd behaviour in the
Makefile for the docs directory.

With the CVS version when trying to build the docs, make seems to get
in an infinite loop or infinite recursion and repeatedly runs
../config.status. The more advanced rules for GNUMake seem to be quite
tricky so I'm not sure why this happens, but perhaps it is because the
rule for faq.html does not actually create it, since I don't have the
faq building program.

With GnuPG 1.0.5 faq.html already exists so normally it does not have
to be remade, but if I touch one of it dependencies then it seems to
run ../config.status 8 times before stopping.

This seems a little odd, which is particularly confusing in the CVS
case so if this is not a known problem then perhaps it should be
investigated.

I'm sorry I can't be much more help but this is nearing the limits of
my experience, but if the content of any of my files would be useful
then I will try to help in any way I can.

Thank you,
Steven Murdoch.

P.S. It is looking like I have found yet another bug in Winproxy. I am
still having difficulty downloading keys even with the changes. The
new version does alter things for the better, but it looks like the
proxy server requires the terminating \r\n\r\n to be in one IP packet,
currently the second \r\n is in a packet by itself. I'm not sure about
this so I will look into this more at the weekend and send another
mail about it. Sigh, just when I thought Winproxy had been outsmarted
it shows another crazy "security feature".
