Do a "gpg --with-colons --list-keys" and you will get the same bad
performance.  But there is hope:  upgrade to gpg 1.0.6c, do a 
"gpg --rebuild-keydb-caches" and you won't complain any longer (unless
you have a machine slower than mine (P-300)).
