You are allowed to link BSD code against GPLed code.  The resulting binary 
is GPLed.

If that weren't the case, then KDE would be massively in violation of the 
license.  Qt is GPLed, but links against the MIT-licensed (equivalent to 
the new BSD license) XFree86 libraries.
