Wow, fixed 6.5 hours before I post.  That is increditable timing.

You wouldn't have a trick up your sleeve for the problem below.  I can
recreate the issue with both gcc v2.9 and gcc v3.04 but IBM's v3.6.4 C
compiler goes through without a problem.  Is this a GNUPG or GCC issue?
