Actually, rather than using https, rfc2817.txt (``Upgrading to TLS
Within HTTP/1.1'') is probably the right thing to use.  And then a
specification of the protocol in the URL isn't needed; instead,
command line options and config file options are needed to be able to
specify that the use of tls is required, and what sort of
authentication is needed.
