        Very interesting. I'm still getting Bus Error during the original 
make. I'm thinking it might be a hardware issue, but I'm not sure. The box:

SunOS 5.8 (Solaris 2.8)
gcc 2.95.3
GNU make 3.80

        Unfortunately, GDB is unavailable on the box. DBX is, and I've run it 
through that:
