Note that gpg from version 1.0.5 or so on supports the use of gpg-agent.

The gpg-agent in gnupg 1.9.x compiles fine for us.  If it doesn't for
you, please report the error so we can look into it.

Hopefully it will be packaged for Debian not before too long.
