Ah well, I didn't make a detached signature. I moved the file to
*.old and uploaded a new, proper detached signature.

Uh. I use a very recent version of tar (1.13.93), which adds extended
attributes to the tar archive. This doesn't seem to be backwards
compatible. Distress.

Here comes the bummer: We just use make distcheck to create our
archives. If tar creates archives that are not backward compatible,
I'd consider this to be a major bug. But maybe automake passes some
option that triggers this behaviour.

We can not fix it - 0.4.7 is released and the damage is done.
However, we are going to do another release pretty soon, and I will
make sure to produce a backward compatible tar archive.

Thanks,
