Verified this on two machines:
One desktop machine running 18.104.22.168.
One laptop running 22.214.171.124 with additional ACPI, swsusp2, ipw2100.
FYI: I see plenty of resets on the USB bus when using the USB
SmartCard readers -- and the device usually seems to get shut down
when it rejects being assigned an address after/as part of a reset.
The shutdown happens AFTER a successful (in terms of result) operation
and NOT before an unsuccessful operation, as one might suspect.
If I can provide additional input, please let me know.
