Moritz is a currently a bit busy with others things and thus there is
not much progress.  However, he is working on it with the goal to make
it usable with scdaemon et al.  Another goal is to allow the use of an
existing X.509 infrastructure.

Moritz, are there areas where you would like to get some help?
