Invalid crypto engine on GPGME_PROTOCOL_OpenPGP?

Why would I all of the sudden getting "GPGME Invalid crypto engine" 
(0x07000096) when I called 
gpgme_engine_check_version(GPGME_PROTOCOL_OpenPGP)?
