Yes, we have proxy support. However we are using our own HTTP code.
Need to look at it. Can you please open a bug for it?

Given that a safe configuration is a bit complex, shouldn't we add a
option to enable all these configuration settings? However it will take
some time until all deployed gpg versions have been updated - thus it
might make more sense to add this only to 2.1.
