Just a quick note:

GnuPG 2.0 will hopefully soon be replaced by 2.1.  We won't keep on
maintaining 2.0 except for security updates and maybe useful features we
can easily backport.

Smart card support for 1.4 will fade out - it is not justified.
Smartcards require user interaction and thus there use on servers is
quite limited.
