Um,

Please note that my original post pointed out multiple
non-obsolete-distro use-cases and I also pointed out REAL WORLD
DIFFICULTIES experienced by FRIENDLY DEVELOPERS who WANTED TO USE
GPGME.

Let's please not get derailed by the fact that my laptop is out
of date.

If gpgme wants to be used, eliminating barriers to entry is
important work. We can of course also just choose to sit in an
ivory tower sneering at everyone who isn't up-to-date enough...
but that will have some pretty predictable consequences. :-)
