I know, sorry!  It's better to do the right thing and get it documented
properly, though.

Yes, either of these look good to me.  given that we don't spell out
that "FD" means "file descriptor" for --status-fd, i'm fine with the
latter choice.  the full documentation is in info or man anyway for
people who want more details.
