Yes, that's it. Please, note that in my use-case we work with the
default configuration. So, implementing this as a config option wouldn't
really work. I'd need a way to set this option when executing gpg. We do
not execute gpg-agent directly here, nor create configuration files.

So, making it a default with a reasonable value or possibility to set
via gpg would be needed.
