Message-ID: <2610924.nkVjtaNSjn@esus> Hi, Somone reported on the Wald message board for Gpg4Win that the french translation of the pinentry passphrase dialog is broken: https://wald.intevation.org/forum/message.php?msg_id=3416&group_id=11 Looking at the .po file I can confirm some weirdness: #: g10/passphrase.c:282 #, c-format msgid "" "Please enter the passphrase to unlock the secret key for the OpenPGP " "certificate:\n" "\"%.*s\"\n" "%u-bit %s key, ID %s,\n" "created %s%s.\n" msgstr "" "Veuillez entrer la phrase de passe pour d?verrouiller la clef secr?te pour " "le\n" "certificat OpenPGP :\n" "? %2$.*1$s ?\n" "clef %4$s de %3$u bits, identifiant %5$s,\n" "cr??e le %6$s%7$s.\n" There are several more occurrences of that pattern where %1 %2 etc. is used instead of %s %u and consorts. Can you please take a look at this? Or is this Ok in some gettext version and we need to change something in gpg4win? Uh login just to see the message, did not know this. Sorry. The report was basically just the picture: http://files.kolab.org/incoming/aheinecke/pinentry-fr.png Text: Hi! I've installed Gpg4Win 2.2.1 (2.2.2b37 gives the same result) on a Windows 7 machine, and it seems the pinentry program fails to correctly display the key name for which the passphrase is requested, see attached PNG (which appeared after entering a command like "gpg -s file.txt" from a command prompt). Is there any workaround or anything wrong with my configuration? Thanks for any help! > The argument order is not the same in every languages, see e.g.: > https://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_node/c_002dformat-Flag.html > #c_002dformat-Flag thanks for clarifying this. > > Can you please take a look at this? I guess if the pasted parameter order is valid (likely) then this is likely something to debug for us. (First step would then be to check on a GNU/Linux system ;-) ) Thanks, Andre -- Andre Heinecke | ++49-541-335083-262 | http://www.intevation.de/ Intevation GmbH, Neuer Graben 17, 49074 Osnabr?ck | AG Osnabr?ck, HR B 18998 Gesch?ftsf?hrer: Frank Koormann, Bernhard Reiter, Dr. Jan-Oliver Wagner -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Yes gpg -s would bring up also something like that. But in the meantime I found out where ubuntu hides gnupg's translations and can see for myself that it is working. > > >> I?m happy to have a closer look at the issue once I?ll now what it is > >> about, but it may actually be a platform specific issue (not being a *win > >> user, my knowledge is pretty limited here). > > > > I guess if the pasted parameter order is valid (likely) then this is > > likely > > something to debug for us. According to: https://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_node/c_002dformat.html#c_002dformat Parameter reordering is something special but gettext "should" handle this by using replacement functions on win32. Apparently this mechanism is somehow disabled in our build. So indeed this is platform specific. I'll take it from here. Sorry to chime in a bit late. I figured that for this string a plain sprintf is used instead of our replacement functions for the printf suite of functions (common/estream-printf.c). Thus under Windows the parameter re-ordering does not work. I just fixed that in master and will now port it to 2.0.26 and send a patch to Andre. Salam-Shalom, Werner -- Die Gedanken sind frei.
