Yes, geeks like you and me can do that. What about the average
computer (or even Windows) user who finds e-mail encryption scary
enough as it is? These people will need an easy GUI option, anything
else will be unusable for them.

A friend of mine has written a blog about the subject which you might
find interesting. It's mostly about browsers, but the basic problem is
still the same.
