Real Name "Invalid character in name"??

As real name you have to enter something like "John Doe", nothing more.
Then GnuPG asks you for your email address. Here you enter something
like "john.doe@foo.bar".
Last but not least GnuPG asks you for an optional comment. Here you
could enter for example "home".
Out of this three components GnuPG then builds a user id of the form:
real name (comment) <email address>
