signing mail to a mailing list

Ok, when I send email to a mailing list sometimes the local copy of the=20
message can have the signature verified, but the mail from the list can=20
not...  I'm thinking that this has to do with the fact that the mailing=20
list changes the Subject: line (inserts [list] to the front of it)  or am=
=20
I off base here?

BTW, I'm using mutt 1.3.15i and GNUpg 1.0.6 (just got this working last=20
late last night)
