Don't use it for anything else but patch files. Unified context
diffs and the dash escaping confuses patch, so you cou must first
strip off the dash escaped text before patching. The above mentionend
option is a GnuPG extension to OpenPGP, so that you can sign patch
files but even use them the regular way.

The output of diff(1) which can be used as input to Larry Wall's great
patch(1).
