That is no info but a license condition of this particular piece of code.

Of course, you are right.  Software patents are illegal in all
European countries but the EPO is simply ignoring this.  Even more
bad, a German high court (BGH) did rule that SPs are not unlawful.  So
if Ascom is going after you (in Germany) you have notmuch of a chance
to win against them.
