hi,
Just an opinion (or a suggestion from you guys
perhaps).
What wipe program do you use in your *nix and win32
boxes?
Personally, I use Secure Delete by THC. It compiles on
both *nix and
win32 (srm and sdel, respectively). It has options as
to how many
times you can write on the file before actually
deleting it (max is
39 times). It even includes a Peter Gutmann white
paper on an
effective wipe technique ("Secure Deletion of Data
from Magnetic and
Solid-State Memory", Proceedings of the Sixth USENIX
Security
Symposium, San Jose, California, July 1996).
Another question (I'm sure this has been asked
before). In the TODO
file of GnuPG 1.0.7, the wipe option is something that
will NOT be
included in the future versions of gpg. I just want to
know why?
Thanks,
- - jed
