did you compile and install this?  what steps did you perform?  where
do you expect gpg to be?  did you use --prefix?

i am thinking you had 1.0.6 on your system previously and that is what
you are getting when you execute gpg.  try a which gpg and see what
happens.  without any more information, it is hard to say what is
going on.
