kmail doesn't do anything with the passphrase, if you use the GPG plugin.=20
everything is handled by the gpg-agent.=20

kmail spawns cryptplugin calls gpg-agent spawns pinentry-{curses|qt|gtk}. T=
he=20
passphrase is cached by gpg-agent, and gpg-agent can be configured in=20
~/.gnupg/agent.conf IIRC.
