Hi!

We are pleased to announce the availability of the first release
candidate for GnuPG 1.2.3:

 ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/gcrypt/alpha/gnupg/gnupg-1.2.3rc1.tar.gz (3215k)
 ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/gcrypt/alpha/gnupg/gnupg-1.2.3rc1.tar.gz.sig

or as a patch against 1.2.2

 ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/gcrypt/alpha/gnupg/gnupg-1.2.2-1.2.3rc1.diff.gz (655k)

Mirrors are listed at http://gnupg.org/mirrors.html ; most of them
should be in sync by Friday.

MD5 sums are:

7f3ca2396c515e2e6d0249e7ec3349a5 gnupg-1.2.3rc1.tar.gz
141b7938e25a2b39b447995f0c24a2b7 gnupg-1.2.2-1.2.3rc1.diff.gz

If you had problems building 1.2.2 we appreciate if you can check out
this release.

    * Listing keys is much faster again.

    * New "--gnupg" option (set by default) that disables --openpgp,
and the various --pgpX emulation options. This replaces
--no-openpgp, and --no-pgpX, and also means that GnuPG has
finally grown a --gnupg option to make GnuPG act like GnuPG.

    * A number of portability changes to make building GnuPG on
      less-common platforms easier.

    * Romanian translation.

Please also consider to use the keyservers accessible at
subkeys.pgp.net - they are know not to mangle keys.

Happy hacking,

The GnuPG Team (David, Stefan, Timo, Werner)

ps.
My working key expired yesterday, an updated key is available at
finger:wk@g10code.com or at the well behaving keyservers.
