Can you send me a stack backtrace for this?  gpg_dearmor is just a
shell script around gpg, so do:

  gpg --no-options --no-greeting  --no-secmem-warning --batch --dearmor > .=
/pubring.gpg < ./pubring.asc

If/when it bus errors, backtrace that.
