Yes, and starting with 1.0.7, GnuPG does not use it any longer.
However, if you specifically ask for it (via --simple-sk-checksum),
then you will get the old checksum.

If the example key you give was generated with GnuPG 1.0.7, then it
was due to --simple-sk-checksum.
