Only for the sake of curiosity: you've downloaded gpg 1.2 
for the only
purpose of verifying the source of gpg 1.4.1 or you've 
received it
trough a secure verifiable source(for example: a purchased 
Linux
distribution)?
In the former case you have got no extra security.
