Signing and Encrypting of attachments with Content-Type: message/rfc822

Hi.

what is best practice to encode (sign and/or encrypt) Messages which
have attachment of Content-Type: message/rfc822?
The easiest way is to use PGP/Mime? But is it decodeable by anybody? Are
there other ways?
