I haven't tested it fully with the new version, but the following was in
the darwin ports and worked well previously:

edit gl/Makefile.in

Change the line "am_libgnu_la_OBJECTS =" to "am_libgnu_la_OBJECTS =
alloca.lo"

Then ./configure, make etc.
