Well,.. partly,... (at least when speaking for myself).
Of course it makes sense to provide security fixes for the 1.x branch,
but I always wonder why you don't switch to the 2.x for the main
development branch.

And two branches like this always provide the risk that fixes,
enhancements, etc. are not correctly applied to both, and that bigger
differences arise.
