Use --{show,override}-session-key:

  $ gpg --show-session-key <x >/dev/null
  [...]
  gpg: session key: `3:0F5933BF86E0D8A3155984577BB0DD6A'

and then

  $ gpg --override-session-key 3:0F5933BF86E0D8A3155984577BB0DD6A <x >y

The '3' is the algorithm id - just change it.
