  Probably he followed that tutorial about protecting the primary key by
using only the subkeys on daily basis... First you create a primary key
with encryting subkey, then add a signing subkey, and export the subkeys
and bring them to the less secure environment... (aka his workplace).

  My advice is to just take the key he wants to sign to home, and bring
it signed the next day...
