Please use --with-colons for all scripts.  The standard output is only
for humans.  Something like

 gpg --with-colons  --with-fingerprint --list-keys "$1" |\
     $AWK -F: -v tmpfile="$TMPFILE" -v trustlevel="$2" '
         $1 == "fpr" { fpr=$10 }

should do the job.
