It's not a <space> created after the first <dash>, it's an additional
<dash><space> placed in front of any line that begins with a <dash>.

My preference when I receive a key in a message is for the key to be
outside the signed portion of the message. That is, write the message,
then sign it if you are going to, then paste the key below the
"-----END PGP SIGNATURE-----" line. But that's my personal preference
only and others will have different preferences.
