RFC3156: "application/pgp-keys" support enigmail, gnus etc

Ok I tested it now with seamonkey 2.21 (or TB 17) +enigmail 1.6 and it
works as you described. I think at home I am running TB11+enigmail 1.4,
so I will upgrade. Thanks.
