Which means they do not support OpenPGP - DSA is a required (MUST)
algorithm in OpenPGP.

This is in theory possible but it does not help you because the
fingerprint of the primary (main) key will change.
It is better to create a new key and, if your really need it, add your
old keys to that new key as subkeys. Can be done with 2.1 without too
much problems.
