call to undeclared function 'write' (Re: GnuPG 2.4.6 released)

I am having problems building version 2.4.6 on macOS (Sequoia). The
compiler reports errors like this one:

  app.c:386:5: error: call to undeclared function 'write'; ISO C99 and
  later do not support implicit function declarations
  [-Wimplicit-function-declaration]
