The exploitation of usury obligations (entrusting), as a means of
curtailing freedom of people, is somewhat contentious.
I agree with you.
GNUTLS is free software, so anyone who has a copy is free to develop
it and redistribute it under the free licenses it uses. We decided at
the outset, based on our principles, not to try to control how other
people use it or develop it.
We make some decisions about how to do things within the GNU Project,
but that does not impose control over anyone in particular, since
nobody has to participate. People can change and use GNUTLS outside
the GNU Project.
